E J Ouellette’s rendition of 17th century’s Turlough O’Carolan’s Concerto takes us on wild ride with Team Whole Music’s Studios staff musicians.
Turlough was Ireland’s preeminent composer (1660-1738). For those who are not familiar, Turlough was born blind in poverty, adopted by a wealthy matriarch, educated and trained as harpist. Turlough at the time of his music reign was getting frustrated by the Italian concertos that were flooding into the Irish market. Recorded music was not available in the 17th century but written music was. Turlough took the challenge of his compatriots and fired back with “Carolan’s Concerto. In turn E J Ouellette is firing back with an authentic, not out of the box rendition with “Roll Over O’Carolan”.
